AIR GUN SECTION

The Airgun section wrapped up another busy season at the end of April.  The section hosted a Youth Learn to Shoot course which coached 6 new youngsters from having never shot, to being proficient shooting from seated and standing positions.  Several school groups and youth organizations used the range as an introduction to safe firearms handling, and an introduction to their use.  The Girl Guides Canada program has an accredited badge program for its members which relies on the indoor range facilities we have here in Yellowknife.

The two cadet corps using our Shooting Performance Centre posted excellent results at the Northern Regional Competition in Whitehorse.  Some cadets are training for participation in the National competition.

Two YKSC members used the facility for training before competing at the Canadian Airgun Grand Prix in Toronto Ontario. The Grand Prix hosted shooters from 8 countries, including Canadian entries from 11 Provinces and Territories.  Our NWT competitors brought home a gold in 10M air rifle (marksman class) and a silver in 10m pistol (sharpshooter class).
